modernbathroomvanityMany things can make up what is considered to be a modern bathroom vanity.  Sometimes one element can do the trick while other times it takes a combination of elements to make the entire look appear to be more modern.  Accomplishing a modern bathroom vanity design is actually quite simple.  Begin by choosing a size and type of vanity.  For instance, small with one sink or large with double sinks.  Then determine whether or not you need above counter and underneath storage.  Next choose accessories like sinks, faucets, mirrors, and lighting that are more modern in design.  The end result should be a bathroom vanity that is simple and sleek in design but appealing and elegant in appearance.

When replacing an existing bathroom vanity, measure the space available should you choose to upgrade the size of your vanity.  If the existing vanity in your home is adequate in both above and below counter storage then all you really need to do is look for one that is similar in size and function but a little more modern in design.  On the other hand, if your existing vanity is too small or too large for your needs then you should probably start looking for a vanity that will remedy the problem.  There are many sizes, styles, materials, and finishes that are considered to be more modern than what may currently have.

The way a vanity and the vanity sinks are mounted is also an effective way you can adjust and change the look of a vanity area so that it looks more modern.  For instance, wall mounted bathroom vanities are a modern trend that create the illusion that the vanity cabinetry are floating in mid air on the wall.  This is a look that is more architecturally modern when compared to an old fashioned bathroom counter that is mounted to both the floor and wall.  Single sinks are a thing of the past.  Homebuyers today expect to find two sinks in a master bathroom or in homes with only one bathroom.  Upgrading to a double sink is both very functional for you and your loved ones but most importantly it adds value to both your bathroom and home.

Storage is something you can may or may not be able to do without.  If you are single and don’t have need all of that extra cabinetry then in order to go more modern you will need to think about a unit that contains glass shelves instead of wooden cabinets underneath.  This type of look is both modern in architecture and material.  Glass adds an element of elegance while also eliminating the cluttered look that big bulky cabinetry can sometimes display.  Shelving above the vanity is also a more modern design because it places focus above rather than below the countertop thus placing the sink, faucets, mirrors, and lighting in the focal position.

The term modern bathroom vanity can comprise of one or a combination of many modern elements.  A modern vanity design is totally dependent on what you feel modern really is and how it fits in with your bathroom décor and that of the rest of your home.  Quality and function should also be another top priority and try not to get hung up in thinking that modern means designer and more expensive.  A modern bathroom vanity could be one that costs you $50 as long as you feel that the overall look is elegant and contemporary.  A vanity that provides your bathroom design with the complete style and function you have always dreamed of.
